we found a daisy...
...some acorns...
...an unknown, but always welcome, garden volunteer???...
...a long lost friend (who loves chickens)...
...an abundance of strawberries...
...and some beautiful roses.
So we are up four acorns, 3.5 pounds of strawberries, some lovely bouquets and some all important kindred spirit time.
However...
We are down one pearl earring.
Peep jumped up on long lost friends back, and in one 'almost too perfect not to be planned' moment, pecked out her pearl earring, dropped it on the ground and Johnny Drama ate it.
Cocoa was pecking her in the leg as an added distraction, while Haddie assualted Lola.
If my chickens were penguins, I believe there would be blueprints and a detailed sketch of how this country mugging was going to 'go down'.
"It'll turn up.. or out"... I assured her.
But she really doesn't want it back.
Fair enough.
Nothing chic about poopy pearls.

There's a joke here somewhere about casting pearls before swine, except we are dealing with chickens...

Never a dull moment at your beautiful farm!
I just had a really good laugh about that.....I am picturing this whole "take down". Would love to have seen that in person...
Cute post and your daughter is adorable.
That's hilarious, hope it does resurface. Poopy pearls are a little bit chick. Beautiful posies.
HAHAH...great story.....truly if I would wear it again (after cleaning) just to be able to repeat this!...
Sweetest child there!...stunning roses!
if you think about the specifics of pearl 'production', a cycle through a chicken, would probably only add to the luster. but, i can't say i'd want to be the one looking for it.
you daughter looks darling with the daisy.

I found your blog a while ago. Your pictures are beautiful and so restful. It always brightens my day to read your posts.
And you're right ... nothing elegant about poopy pearls at all ...

That is a bountiful harvest of strawberries, and a fun garden tale.
This cute story of the chicken cracks me up... I can see why she does not want it back :)
Love the super cute pic of your daughter with the daisy. "Oh, I love all the pics."..
We are working on insulating our coop to keep the girls warm this winter. I hope they know how much we love them...
Thanks for cheering up an exhasting day full of water carting and worry. My mum once lost the tiny diamond in her engagement ring in the garden. We sieved and sieved. And a month later it popped up! Hope the pearl pops out.
must be ever bearing strawberries?
I have the same bowl... love it!
