Red & Read...

Today, I found red in the garden and something to read in the book store!

The fabulous Fifi has launched the latest issue of
Romantic Country and we have a very cute baking story inside.

My dear friend Kim Christie came out and shot all of the photos.
She is absolutely fabulous and we had the best day producing this.

These are all shots that didn't make the final story, and it's fun to share them.

Oliver was the co-star (to my daughter) and also the thief of the day.
The story has a yummy gingerbread cookie recipe (with fresh ginger) and even a dog biscuit recipe.
Yes, we hung them on the tree, and yes, he stole them off every time.

And lastly, I highly recommend having your picture taken through a mirror and framed by a wreath.
It does wonders for the morale!
Have a great weekend everyone.

Hello Yellow...

(yes, I'm always looking for the love in my garden)

What colour is filling your garden right now?

A Horse Walks Into a Bar...

..and the bartender asks,
Why the long face?

I'll tell you why...my sweet greenhouse, my wedding gift 11 years ago,
the place we have shot more magazine stories than I can remember..
is being dismantled.

We knew it was coming.
The floor was warped, the roof was falling off, and I could barely close the door.
We will rebuild, it will be bigger, better and use-able all year long.
We will create, dream and escape in the new space.
It will be adorable.
But it still hurts.

Luckily I have 60 pounds of tomatoes and peaches to can.
That'll distract me.
Silly to be so attached to a little shack.

Big Day...

It was a big day yesterday for everyone.
First day of school for my girl.

First birthday for Ollie.
First ever snow pea, carrot, strawberry, brown rice and apple surprise cake.
It use to higher and fancier.
But..
..it was also the first time half a birthday cake slid off the plate and hit the floor.
First time something like this didn't matter one bit to anyone.

First day alone for me.
