Trying to Find the Love..

I'm on a new - get healthy kick.  Who isn't ..right.  So, in my attempt to be healthier, I am trying to find the love in dark chocolate.
I haven't found it yet.
My heart has always belonged to milk chocolate.  It can do no wrong, and fills my heart with an immense gladness.

I hit the grocer yesteday and bought a chunk.  My husband said the best snack is raw almonds and dark chocolate.  It had been a week since having any milk chocolate, and I needed a fix.
To put my need in perspective...check out the next image.

yes, it's really that big.

So, here is my healthy snacking alternative.
I have to say, it is helping kill my craving for chocolate.  I can eat about three almonds and then I'm done.

I love dark chocolate and can't go a day without it! Yum...! Have you tried the Chocolove candy bars? They are delicious! Have a beautiful day! :)

What a great post:). I know exactly what you mean; dark chocolate is just not the same. Although, one treat that I really do like is dark-chocolate covered blueberries. If you can find them in a supermarket near you, I highly recommend them, as the blueberries give the dark chocolate a bit more sweetness.

Good luck;),

That is one monstrous chunk, haha! I had to laugh when I saw it.
When I'm feeling decent, I eat chocolate that is somewhere in-between dark and milk.
You know what really helps cure a chocolate craving? Hot chocolate!!! A nice steaming, milky, rich cup, thick with dutch-processed cocoa powder. Mmmmmmh....

I'm guessing you tasted bitter dark chocolate, too bitter for even me, the dark chocolate queen. Try Dove dark, dark milky way or dark reeses. I know the last two aren't healthy but oh so good!

So I'm guessing that you have given something else up for Lent...

I love the darkest of dark chocolate - 90% is good. Look at it this way, you can put sugar in, but you can't take it out.

Good, fresh, pistachio Halva is an absolute winner, and you don't have to crush your nuts to eat it.

Oh I am with your husband on this one...dark is the best..but not bitter dark.Any chocolate will do for me. Poor girl...how can you resist all those cadbury easter mini egg with the candy coating or those sweet mini cadbury bunnies that have hit the stores...they just hop right into my cart and how can I say no. You are a much better women than I. xoxoox

I feel you about the milk chocolate. It's what we grew up on, and then they threw dark chocolate at us. I'm not so crazy about it either, but my daughter loves it. Hoping to start to love it better!

That used to be me too - milk chocolate all the way until I got pregnant and suddenly preferred dark. Now I just eat any chocolate in sight. Is Canadian chocolate malty like American chocolate or (whisper) much nicer like European chocolate?

I have never met any piece of chocolate I didn't like ~ milk or dark! :)

Lovely looking snack...though I don't know how you can stop at only eating 3! LOL

I have to agree - I'm a dark chocolate wannabe. I really love my milk chocolate, but I"m also trying to convert.

Do you have the Longos chain of stores out in BC? Because they have the best almonds. I buy the unsalted roasted almonds and they are so fresh and are extra crunchy. I usually can hardly gag down 1 or 2 almonds, but with the Longos ones I have to limit myself to 20 per day. If you don't have Longos, maybe you should try different makes and stores and hunt for some good ones.

Mmmm, I have a serious weakness for almonds. I think I like them even more than chocolate. But when I do go for chocolate, I like mine dark. I bet both the almonds and dark chocolate are acquired tastes. Good luck with your health kick!

Dark chocolate and almonds? Yes, please. I will eat pretty much any chocolate, but I do love good, dark chocolate... Add the almonds and I'm pretty much in heaven.

I like almonds more than chocolate, but the combo is pretty fantastic. As for Tom's comment, I forgot about that. Can I start now?

I'm just the opposite. I love dark chocolate and not milk chocolate. In fact, I can't even choke down milk chocolate. My daughter tells me this is a good thing because dark is so much better for you. And almonds I love! Sounds like a plan, if you can hold yourself to 3 or 4!

I love chocolate chips for baking. They remind me of childhood cookies and I've convinced myself that if I have them with a glass of red wine, it's actually good for me.
