I live on Vancouver Island, so we probably had we had the same gorgeous, sunny, spring weather here! I wish we had chickens and a puppy interrupting picnics!
It was a beautiful weekend! Lily looks like she was thoroughly enjoying it. As for making pasta, maybe it was just our machine, but I found it waaaay easier to make it by hand. Maybe I just need to have more muscle ;)
it was easy to make the dough by hand - and I did that, but getting it thin enough was the very hard part. I even stood on a stool above the dough to use my weight. I thought I did a good job, till I cooked it and it puffed up three times the size. Still delicious, but thinner would have been better.
Heather, if you are ordering lemons from Logee's, I ordered the Buddha's hand lemon and make sure and order the Etrog as it has over 70 healthy medicinal compounds in it. I blogged about it some time ago.
we had a gorgeous weekend in england too - endless summery days in fact. i had the same problem when i made pasta, heather, i didn't roll it thin enough. it does seem to take considerable strength! but i did adore making it by hand. cleaning machines is not something i like to do! x
Love this pic of lily relaxing with her puppy. It was beautiful in the midwest this weekend but today it's windy and cold. Is this your greenhouse in the photo? It's so cute!!I wish I had one..
When I was 19 I spent the summer with my grandparents in Italy. The first thing my Nonna (grandmother) taught me was how to make noodles without a machine. I had to roll out a huge circle of dough and then roll it up tight and using a very sharp knife I cut it into noodles. Nowadays I have a machine but the memories of that summer are as fresh as the noodles I made just the other day with my Mom.
Just like Anna, I have memories of my grandmother making pasta. Huge, thin circles of pasta drying on clean sheets over every surface of the house on pasta making Sunday. Noodles: what memories are made of! What a glorious weekend we had!

any day in the country sounds perfect to me!
We took a drive in the country yesterday and it was all I could do to not get out of the car and beg someone to sell me their farmhouse!
