Amazing Brunch & Pop Up Store...

It's a blueberry celebration at Barbara-Jo's this Saturday starting at10:30am.
We'll be serving up food from the cookbook and learning how to make a few things.
Just in time for summer berry season.

All things blueberry - the perfect way to start your day...
Blueberry Muffins and a healthy blueberry smoothie.

Some freshly made blueberry sorbet...

Blueberry Chutney on salmon - so perfect!

I'll be demonstrating how to make sorbet, jam and ...who knows what else
It's bound to be impressive!
But...

May look a bit like this.

I will have the full line of jams there for sale.
Blueberry Lavender, Very Very Raspberry, Rhubarb with Rosemary and the Strawberry Black Pepper.
And I'm charging farm gate prices - only 7.00 a jar!!!
I've made them all fresh this week - and the Rhubarb is not going to last long this year!

And finally, to end the lunch off, a slice of blueberry pie.
Seriously, how can you not come.

Blueberry season is just around the corner!
or call 604-688-6755
Only a few seats left.
I'd love to see you and will be there till 2pm.

Back Up Plan...

The plan was to pitch the tent and camp out in the back yard...but it's been raining.
A lot.
Luckily, the art studio, a movie player and a giant bowl of popcorn saved the day.
All would have been perfect if...

...no one noticed that one of these stuffies was not like the other.

West Elm Market Esty Pop Up...

What do you have planned for the weekend.
I'm off to Vancouver to the West Elm Market Esty Pop up.

There are actually two West Elm stores on the same street side by side.
The home decor side, and the cafe kitchen side.
I'm in love with the cafe side.

Jan from Poppytalk is hosting a pop up shop there with lots of amazing local designers, artist, creators.
One being my lovely friend Janis Nicolay - photographer.
This is one of my favourite images of hers.  But honestly, I have many many more.

Two, I have to have one of these.
Created by my other super lovely friend Rosie Daykin of Butter Baked Goods.
Made just for the event - it's a nanaimo bar cupcake.
I mean seriously, how bloody brilliant!
Photo is coincidentally by Janis Nicolay!

So I hope to see you there, by the cupcakes.
The Etsy Pop-Up Shop is this Saturday, May 25/13 from 1pm – 6pm at west elm and west elm market (right next door) in Vancouver. The address is 2947 Granville StreetVancouver.

Other news...I think we are going to have a great year for figs!
We have three trees and they are all loaded.
YUM

The dandelions have been replaced by butter cups.
And I ask you this...

Is it wrong that I won't let anyone use my only copy of my cookbook in the
kitchen - that I make them work off the copy on the ipad.

Pie Confessions...

This weekend was full of a lot of firsts.
First Abraham Darby rose in the garden...

first of the kale ready to harvest...

first beginnings of a blueberry...

first time sticking my face this close to 12,000 bees...

first major hula hooping success...

first time shooting a video with my friend Janis Nicolay on 'how to make the best pie ever'...

not the first time I ate half a pie right out of the pan after everyone left.

They're Back...

Hello lovely.
I've missed you these many months.
But now, rhubarb season is in full swing, and you're back in my life.

Last night, there was next to no food in the kitchen.
Just some chicken and havarti cheese.
So sandwiches...how dull.
NOT when you add Rhubarb Jam to the mix!
I've eaten three of these in 24 hours.
It's small bread. Very small bread.

Also back in my life..
Meyer lemons.

So I got a big jar preserved for the year.
I LOVE this stuff.
The recipe is in the book - if you haven't made this yet, hurry before they disappear.

Come Have Lunch with Me...

I'm so nervous.
I'm having my first book signing along with a luncheon at Barbara Jo's in Vancouver.
I hope some of you will come, because it will help my nerves and make me smile.

It includes a book, lunch and just a bunch of fun!
